The Brits may be about to bare almost all now that Australian online retailer, Budgy Smuggler, has launched its e-commerce platform in the UK and its London pop-up store there last week.
Doned on some of UK’s high profile personalities, including rugby stars, the Burgess Brothers, cricketer Kevin Pietersen and several British & Irish Lions rugby players, Aussie brand Budgy Smuggler have now stamped its presence in the UK, launching its UK based e-commerce store , as well as it’s London pop-up store, last week.
“If you’re in London tomorrow (June 14th) you’re invited to the Official Launch BBQ of the @BudgySmuggler UK Pop Up Store,” the company announced “Aussie-style” on it’s Instagram feed. “We’ll have cricket, thong throwing and beer pong running from 5pm till about 10pm. And some beers. BYO if you’re really giving it a nudge (which is encouraged). Mens + Womens swimwear and activewear will be available to buy as well.”
The company’s UK based website will offer overnight shipping to the UK and Europe, which are two key markets it’s looking to grow.
The brand, which gained worldwide publicity when former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott was snapped wearing them on a Queenscliff beach in Queensland, was founded in 2002 as an online startup. Initially selling quirky men’s swimwear, Budgy Smuggler now also stocks womenswear and kidswear as well.
Budgy Smuggler has a strong and established online presence, which it says will remain its key focus, and sells in Australia and internationally, with UK and European sales growing consistently, prompting its launch there.
Last year, Budgy Smuggler opened its first store on Manly Beach, NSW, and now it’s pop-up in the UK will allow the brand to strengthen its brand presence there and its e-commerce operations in one of its strongest target markets.
